Objective:
Have the most points at the end of the game.
Setup:
If there are two players, randomly remove two green cards, two red cards, two blue cards, and two gold cards from the deck. If there are three or four players, you will use the entire deck. Shuffle the cards in the deck and place it face down in the middle of the playing area.
Give each player one blue bid token (worth five black bid tokens) and ten black bid tokens. Players may switch out their blue token for five black tokens at any point throughout the game.
Play:
Each round, draw the top number of cards from the deck matching the number of players in the game and place them in a row visible to all players. For example, if you are playing with three players, you would draw the top three cards from the deck and line them up in a way that they are visible to all players.
After all players have had a chance to look at the cards, each player secretly decides how much they would like to bid. Players select any number of bid tokens from their pile (keeping them hidden). If a player does not wish to bid, he/she may bid zero (still hiding their bid). At the same time, all players reveal how much they bid.
Whichever player bid the most gets to select the first card. They must discard all of their bid tokens to the bid token bank. Whichever player bid the next highest gets to select the second card and so on. However, players who did not select the first card keep half of their bid (rounded up). For example, if Joe bid three and Moe bid five, Moe would get to pick the first card and lose all five bid tokens. Joe would pick the second card and lose only one bid token.
When you select a card, there are certain steps you must resolve depending on the card. All cards are placed face up in front of the player that selected them.
Green
If you select a green card, you may place it in your green card stack (if you do not yet have one, this card begins the stack). For each warning icon on the card, roll the dice. If you roll doubles, you must discard the card. For a red warning icon, you must roll the dice four times. If any of those are doubles, you must discard. After you have rolled for warnings, you may perform the action described at the bottom of the card if you wish. All of the actions are optional.
Red and Blue
If you select a red or blue card, decide whether to place it in an already existing stack of the same color or create a new stack. For each warning icon on the card, roll the dice. If you roll doubles, you must discard the card. If you roll snake eyes (double ones), you must discard the entire stack. For each red warning icon, roll the dice (only once, unlike green cards). If you roll doubles, you must discard the entire stack. After you have rolled for warnings, you may perform the action described at the bottom of the card if you wish. All of the actions are optional.
Gold
If you select a gold card, place it in your gold card stack (if you do not yet have one, this card begins the stack). For each warning icon on the card, roll the dice. If you roll doubles, you must discard the card. After you have rolled for warnings, you may perform the action described at the bottom of the card if you wish. All of the actions are optional.
Once each player has selected their card, begin the next round. If there are not enough cards for each player to select one at the end of the game, do not execute that round; the game ends.
Scoring:
Green
Score the number shown on the card.
Blue
Score the number shown on the card. In addition, score bonus points for the number of cards in each stack:
One = 0
Two = 0
Three = 2
Four = 14
Five = 25
Six = 35
Seven or more = 55
Red
Score the number shown on the card. In addition, score bonus points for the number of cards in each stack:
One = 1
Two = 3
Three = 8
Four = 13
Five = 15
Six = 19
Seven or more = 24
Gold
First, add up the total of all your plus (+) gold cards. Then, multiply that number by each multiplication (x) gold card. Multiplication gold cards are worth zero without any plus gold cards.
Whoever has the most points at the end of the game is the winner!
Some extra stuff:
If two players tie for the highest bid, all players rebid. If this occurs a second time, roll the dice to determine the tiebreaker.
If two players tie for any bid (other than the highest), roll the dice to determine the tiebreaker.
If you steal a card from another player, do not roll for warning icons or perform the action; the card is valued for scoring only (unless otherwise noted)
